Voluma® injectable gel is suitable for almost any patient who wants to restore lost volume around the midface and minimize the appearance of loose or sagging skin. During your initial consultation, Dr. Leonard will discuss your concerns and desired goals in order to determine if Voluma® is the most appropriate treatment for you.

The most common side effects following treatment include swelling, tenderness, bruising, discomfort, redness, itching, discoloration, firmness, or lumps and bumps around the injection site. For patients receiving Juvéderm® XC and Juvéderm® Ultra XC, these side effects are typically mild or moderate and resolve within two weeks. Juvéderm Voluma® XC injections may cause slightly more discomfort, but this should resolve within two to four weeks.

Complications resulting from Voluma® injections are rare. There is the possibility that the gel could be injected into a blood vessel accidentally. This could lead to temporary or permanent scarring, vision abnormalities or blindness, or stroke.

Any procedure that involves penetrating the protective barrier of the skin does pose a risk of infection.
