With the passing of time, our skin begins to lose the elasticity and moisture that keep it looking young. The result is the appearance of parentheses lines and wrinkles. These can be moderate to severe and often appear around the nose and the mouth. There are many cremes and serums that can reintroduce moisture to these areas, but only JUVÉDERM® XC has the ability to increase volume within existing lines and folds. This allows you to achieve a more natural-looking and long-lasting result, as wrinkles and folds are volumized as well as moisturized all through a simple injection.
Juvederm XC is an effective wrinkle treatment capable of smoothing:
- Facial wrinkles either moderate or severe.
Many find that with advancing age, genetics, environmental factors or a combination of several of these, permanent wrinkles eventually begin to appear on the sides of their mouth. These are known as Nasolabial folds or laugh lines. Juvederm is a gel that is injected into the wrinkles, helping to provide a facial contour that is flatter and tighter.
Who would benefit from Juvederm?
Anyone who has begun to notice these lines and wrinkling and would love to regain the appearance of a smooth facial contour would benefit from receiving Juvederm treatments.
Laugh lines are static, causing them to appear when your face is resting. Building blocks in your skin, known as hyaluronic acid and collagen, deteriorate with age, causing the skin to lose its structure that otherwise kept it wrinkle free and smooth.
Considerations, Risks, and Recovery
Like any other medical treatment, some considerations must be kept in mind. Side effects commonly reported are a feeling of tenderness, swelling, the presence of lumps/bumps, firmness, bruises, discomfort, discoloration and itchiness. When JUVÉDERM® XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC injectable gels are used, the side effects are mild and generally last less than 14 days.
The risks that accompany using a product like Juvederm is the potential for unintentional injection of the product into a blood vessel. This complication is rare but can be quite serious and the effects permanent. Complications that have been reported from accidental injections are vision abnormalities including blindness, strokes, temporary scabbing, and permanent scarring. As is the case with any skin injection procedure, infection is a risk.
